Location for visiting historic houses / gardens Spa facilities great
Room 601 is above the kitchen and suffers from loud fan noise Also staff smoke outside the kitchen which is again below 601 and unpleasant cigarette smoke enters the room through the window
The location was ideal for A1.
The comfort of the bed was not good. Very uncomfortable.
Breakfast was worth the extra; rooms very modern and inviting and pool area very relaxing
Checking in was quite a frustrating process as they would not allow us to use the pool whilst we awaited 2pm check until we pushed the point and they made us hang around for 40min. The check out girl was very polite and friendly which did redeem the miserable checking in lady.
Very clean room, modern bathroom. Good facilities in the room
Some of the public spaces a bit dated. Fire alarm went of at around 6am luckily it stopped as we quickly tried to dress
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was adequate for our needs. The furniture was a bit tired but functional. The gym facilities were excellent and not busy so a pleasure to use. The area was very quiet which was good for us, the hotel also was quiet although busy, we heard no noise.
The bed in room 604 was extremely uncomfortable..very hard and lumpy and did spoil our sleep..I think the hotel would benefit (from my point of view) a few extra spa and beauty treatments.
Good area just off a1 , small gym , nice pool but sauna under repair but didnt see any work done!Nice bar and meal.
Had one sleepless night as first half of the night the staff were talking outside my window as this was their smoking area! The second half of night was the noise of the air con unit , next day they changed rooms but gave no assistance in change!
Very friendly atmosphere, excellent spa facilities and very clean.
Just what we needed to sleep over after a local wedding.
the floor in the bathroom was not very clean and the carpets were a bit shabby, but on the whole the room was spacious, well furnished and nice and quiet
This hotel was a very comfortable hotel ,the staff where excelent ,nothing was too much trouble they where friendly and helpfull ,the spa facilitys are really good and the staf there are also very helpfull and friendly. The weekend that we where there the boilers had broken down but they soon had one working again with notices up explaining what the problem was in the spa ,but even that did not spoil the use of the facilitys. The bedrooms are very clean and comfortable with tv and tea and coffee making facilitys also a hairdryer for your convinience altogether we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to going again in the future ,
The room we were given had a very noisy air con unit outside the window. Also the plumbing to the room was very noisy which resulted in a poor sleep.
We liked the room and thought it was clean and had recently had been refurbished in a simple contempory design. We liked the bathroom with bath and shower unit but the rest off hotel seemed dated and tired. Breakfast room appeared to be 1990s style and breakfast was satisfactory. We were attending a wedding at another hotel so we were only there for a short period of time. . Plenty of car park space.
Thought £105 for one nights bed and breakfast was expensive. Initially we thought the cost of the room was inclusive of breakfast but it was an extra. Reception ordered us a taxi to go to the wedding venue which was about 8/9miles away. This cost £27 one way so £54 for the taxi was very expensive but they appeared to have a monopoly. Not sure if hotel got commission or were aware of this but would have thought they would have researched rates and booked a more competitive company as the same journey in Derby would have been half the price. Taxi driver arrived at 6.00pm and advised us to book return taxi as more expensive later on. The hotel is miles from anywhere so you would need a car or risk using a taxi.Bit of an expensive stay when only there for 24hours.
The majority of the staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help (with the exception being the female Hitler that worked in the restaurant). The leisure facilities, such as pool and gym were excellent. My wife had a beauty treatment which was very reasonably priced and professionally done. The rooms were well laid out and we both had a fantastic nights sleep.
We booked a Superior Double room, which on the Olde Barn website, is advertised as having breakfast included. When we arrived we were put in a Twin room which had a strange aroma, and the keys for the door did not work. The mistake was quickly rectified and we were moved to a very pleasant Superior Double. The next morning, my wife and I were refused breakfast. At reception I was told that it was not included because I had not booked direct, but had gone through Booked.net and not ticked the right box. Again this was rectified once I showed the member of staff the Olde Barn website. The draught beer in the bar was flat and my dad was served a warm bottle of beer in a warm glass (which cost £4.95). When I brought this up with the bar staff, I was told that the beer should be served at room temperature!
The room we used was very clean & comfortable, all the staff we encountered were very pleasant
The restaurant is in need of a facelift, the carpeting severely lets down the whole place, however the food was very good and the young waiter who served us was great.
The internet was good and the room was comfortable.
The menu is limited.
Room quite shabby and view not good. Not quite the spa break we had expected
